We like to talk about everything from home decor to fashion to parenting. The main overall theme though is FUN. If you don't like to laugh, then this probably isn't the place for you.
Is there anything cuter than a dog in a Halloween costume (besides kids and babies, of course)? I absolutely LOVE Halloween and have so much fun dressing up anyone and anything that will let me. The above photo was from a few years ago when Wrigley and I dressed as Thing 1 and Thing 2. I’m pretty sure Dr. Seuss would have approved.
So if one decked-out dog is cute enough on its own, just imagine a whole group of dogs in costumes! Can you even handle all that cuteness?! Recently, I had the extreme pleasure of being one of the guest judges in a pet costume contest at Chalet, an awesome family-owned garden and gift shop in my area. The contest was a great way to kick off the grand opening of their new Pet Living department, which features tons of accessories, furniture, and healthy nutrition for your pets.
The store really went all out for the show, even creating a “green grass” runway. Each pet was encouraged to strut his/her stuff down the catwalk so that we judges could make our assessments. One dog even decided to mark his territory on the runway! (Dogs will be dogs, you know!)
There were so many creative ensembles, but I only snapped pictures of a few (guess I got too caught up in the moment!) Here are some of my faves:
HAZEL, THE MERMAID
HARLEY, THE MARIACHI BAND MEMBER
JASPER, THE WEINER DOG HOT DOG
SASHA, THE RASTAFARIAN
WALLEY, THE CHOCOLATE LAB S’MORE
And the big overall winner was DAISY, THE WEIGHT LIFTING BULLDOG.
Daisy’s muscles totally stole the show, and she took home the top prize of a $50 gift certificate to the store. The other contest winners also received smaller gift certificates, as well as a plethora of doggy treats. It was so much fun to be a part of this adorable event, and I hope to bring Wrigley’s modeling skills to the runway next year. A big thanks to Chalet for their continued efforts to bring the community together!
